Daycare Days, Offered on a Limited Basis
Training is the heart of Ruff Haus K9, and our doggy daycare is offered on a limited basis alongside our training programs and boarding. We want to be upfront about that, so you know what to expect before you reach out.
Ask Rikki about days and availability before you plan your week around daycare. She’ll tell you what’s open and whether it fits your schedule.
Your dog spends the day with the Ruff Haus K9 family, with time to play, move and recharge, and goes home to you at the end of it.

What a Daycare Day Gives Your Dog
Most dogs need more than a quick walk before work. A day out gives them the things a quiet house can’t.
Play
Time to run around and enjoy the day, instead of waiting by the door for you to come home.
Exercise
Young and high-energy dogs especially need a real outlet. Movement during the day helps take the edge off that energy.
Rest
A good day isn’t nonstop action. Downtime between play helps your dog stay calm and comfortable.
Company
Instead of hours alone, your dog spends the day with people who love dogs and care about how your dog is doing.
A calmer evening
A dog who has played and rested during the day is often easier to live with at night, so your evenings feel like yours again.
A Long Day Alone vs. a Day Out
If your dog spends most weekdays home alone, a daycare day can change how the whole day feels, for both of you.
Home alone all day
- Hours alone while you’re at work
- Pent-up energy by the evening
- Boredom with nothing to do
- Rushing home on your lunch break
- Guilt every time you leave
A daycare day
- Company while you’re at work
- Play and exercise during the day
- A day with something to look forward to
- One less thing to plan around
- Peace of mind while you’re busy
How to Request a Daycare Day
Start with a free consultation
New to Ruff Haus K9? Tell Rikki about your dog, your schedule and what you’re hoping daycare will do for you. She answers your questions and talks through availability.
Share vaccine records
Send proof that your dog’s shots are current before the first day. Daycare follows the same strict standards as boarding and training.
Request your days
Existing clients request daycare bookings through the client portal, where you can also upload records. New clients can ask Rikki directly which days are open.
Healthy Dogs Start With Vaccine Records
Every dog that joins us for the day has to meet the same strict vaccine standards we use for boarding and training. It protects your dog and every other dog on site.
Before your dog’s first day, check that parvo, distemper, rabies, leptospirosis and bordetella shots are all current. Bordetella needs a head start: a nasal or oral dose 3 days ahead at minimum, an injected dose 10 days ahead.
Have your vet send the records, or upload them yourself in the client portal if you already have an account with us.

Is Daycare the Right Fit for Your Dog?
Daycare tends to suit social, energetic dogs who enjoy company and get bored at home. Some dogs, especially older or more sensitive ones, are happier with a quieter routine, and that’s okay too.
If your dog has behavior you want to change, like pulling, jumping, barking at guests or struggling around other dogs, daycare isn’t a training program. Our private in-home lessons and board and train programs are built for that, and Rikki can tell you which one makes sense as a first step.
We’re in Kings Park and welcome dogs from all over Suffolk and Nassau, from Smithtown and Commack to Northport and Huntington.

Daycare Questions
What is a doggie daycare?
A doggie daycare is a place where your dog spends the day while you’re at work or busy, then goes home with you in the evening. Instead of hours alone, your dog gets play, exercise, rest and company. Unlike boarding, there’s no overnight stay.
Is dog daycare on Long Island available every day at Ruff Haus K9?
Daycare at Ruff Haus K9 is offered on a limited basis, so not every day may be open. Ask Rikki about days and availability before you plan around them.
How much is doggy daycare per dog?
That depends on your dog and what your dog needs. Bring it up on your free consultation: Rikki will hear about your dog, walk you through the options and give you an exact quote.
What vaccines does my dog need for daycare?
The same five as boarding and training: distemper, parvo, rabies, leptospirosis and bordetella. A nasal or oral bordetella dose needs 3 days before your dog’s first visit; an injected dose needs 10. Records should arrive before that first day.
Can existing clients book daycare online?
Yes. Log in to the client portal to request daycare bookings and upload your dog’s vaccination records.
Will daycare fix my dog’s behavior problems?
Daycare is about play, exercise and rest, not training. If you want to change things like pulling, jumping or reactivity, ask Rikki about private in-home lessons or board and train on your free consultation.
Do you offer overnight boarding too?
Yes. If you’re traveling, your dog can board with the Ruff Haus K9 family, with plenty of space to run, play and rest. Ask Rikki about your dates.
